Tyme Sefari
Haight Street, San Francisco, California
This mural is named after a time travel company in a Ray
Bradury short story. An adventurer travels back in time to hunt dinosaurs.
By accidentally steping on a butterfly, he alters the future. This mural
- 132 feet long by 8 feet high - covered a section of a retaining wall
for the Muni Metro tunnel then being built along the Embarcadero waterfront.
Muni
wanted themes covering travel, San Francisco, and her history of diverse
ethnicities. In this mural our futuristic traveller (seen behind Estria)
drops his camera during the time of the dinosaurs. He returns to the
scene several times throughout history in futile attempts to recover
it. He finally recovers it after an Ice Age thaws.
